Autism Awareness Day is today...Let's celebrate.

Today, April 2 is Autism Awareness Day. I am one of the many people who's lives are touched by Autism. I have four people in my family who have a diagnosis of Autism. My two girls, one with Autism, one with Aspergers, my niece and my nephew. You can read about my journey with Autism here.

Today we don't morn that our children have Autism, as hard as that diagnosis was initially to receive, but we celebrate them. We celebrate the achievements and the triumphs. We celebrate the uniqueness of who they are. We celebrate the joy that they bring to our lives.

When we look at the world, there are alot of people with Autism in it. Some mild, some severe. Each person with Autism brings something extra special into our lives. They see things that we don't see. They can do things that we can't do. They are pretty amazing if you stop and listen to them and try and see the world through their eyes.

They will always tell you just how they feel. They are the most honest people around. It's black and white to them and if it is so, they will tell you just how it is.

So today, we celebrate. If you know someone with autism you are blessed. Your world is a little brighter because of it.
