Fancy a pear tart?

I was making some hot cross buns tonight and you have to wait so long for the dough to rise and I was getting a little peckish for something sweet. I had four over ripe pears sitting in the fruit bowl. I really didn't want to put them to waste so instead I decided to make this super easy pear tart....all made up in the head!

Recipe

2 pears, peeled, halved, and sliced (but not cut through)
caster sugar
cinnamon
a sheet of puff pastry
milk for brushing (or egg)

makes four
So it is sooooo simple...basically the pears are overripe so there is no need to soften them in the saucepan by simmering with the sugar and water etc....all you have to do is peel and cut the pears in half and then cut them from the stalk down but not cutting through...kind of like a fan. Then cut some circles in your puff pastry just a bit bigger then your pear...I used a pie top cutter :). Then place the pear on the pastry and brush the pastry with some milk. Sprinkle with some cinnamon sugar (cinnamon and sugar mixed together). Bake on  a baking tray lined with baking paper in a hot oven 210deg for about 25 mins. Sprinkle with icing sugar and wallah!

  1. I'm here from your link on Frills in the Hills.
Oh my gosh. This is so simple and looks (and sounds) so delish. I'm thinking this will be making an appearance at our table later in the week. Thanks :)
