36 birthdays....

So it's 6:33am to be precise and I'm laying in bed in the dark alone on this drizzly day. Hubby has left to work for the day with his friend early, giving me a kiss on the head and reminding me that today is my day. My birthday. My 36th birthday to be exact!

I share my birthday with my lovely twin sister and that is indeed special. The two of us, separated by distance but inseparable really. So a shout out and a piece of cake will be eaten today in her honor.

As I lay here I am thinking of all the years of birthdays under my belt. There's a birthday where the space shuttle, the challenger blew up right in front of our eyes on the tv screen, many a birthday spent starting the first day of school, birthdays at a beach house when we were little and birthdays spent partying with friends, one too many wines consumed maybe.

These days birthdays seem to be a lot less fanfare and a lot less exciting. Maybe it's because we are "all grown up" and all partied out, I don't know....
